I don't read a lot of comics, but there are a few out there I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great series. BPRD is tops in my book. Great stories and art featuring a hodge podge team of adventurers taking on all manner of supernatural creatures including Plague of Frogs and The Universal Machine.
The characters are well thought out and diverse-- and they feel and look like real people. Guy Davis is the primary artist on the series and he doesn't draw in the Jim Lee everyone's a supermodel style-- he's more like Steve Ditko in that his people look more realistic and that helps draw you in to the series.
Published by Dark Horse who is one of the best comics publishers of quality out there.
