CORNERED (1946) is on at 1215pm with Dick Powell hunting down Nazi's who killed his wife.
Gene Kelly trades in his dancing shoes for a bit of drama with THE BLACK HAND (1950) today at 345pm as a turn of the century (the last century) Italian hunting down the mobsters who killed his father.
THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE (1974) is on at 5am Tuesday morning- if you only know this one from the remake check the original with Walter Matthau, Jerry Stiller (George's Dad on Seinfeld) and Robert Shaw in a gripping pure 70s crime drama.
At 130pm on Tuesday is FOUR DAUGHTERS (1938) with Claude Raines as the Dad trying his best with his four daughters (played by the Lane sisters) and featuring John Garfield. It's a good little comedy drama which spawned a sequel which plays here on TCM right after this one.
Bogie is on at 1130pm with DEAD RECKONING (1947) which is one of his out of Warner Bros films and features Lizabeth Scott who you either find very sultry or question if she's a cross dresser.
5am on Wednesday we've got Stanley Kubrick's KILLERS KISS (1955) which is a blistering film noir with Burt Lancaster and one of the few films Kubrick did that I personally think is any good.
ANNA KARININA (1935) is a solid Garbo film on at 1030am Wednesday based on Tolstoy's classic novel.
FINGERS AT THE WINDOW (1942) which is described as "A magician uses hypnosis to create an army of murderers" which might be a plot spoiler-- also listed as "Entertaining mystery of Lew Ayres and Laraine Day tracking down maniac killer masterminding repeated axe murders." which makes me want to watch it-- also with Basil Rathbone who I'm guessing is the magician. It's on Wednesday at 630pm.
THE BLACK LEGION (1936) is on at 1030pm with Bogie as a blue collar factory worker who blames his lack of promotion on immigrants so he joins the Ku Klux Klan-- also with William Holden.
THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE (1945) is a tight little suspense film I recommended you watch last week and I recommend it this week too. It's on Thursday at 315pm.
Friday night we've got a lineup from Toho Studios in Japan with GOJIRA (1954)-- which is the original version of GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS and it's so much more than a guy in a rubber suit stomping on Lego buildings-- it's an intense melodrama about Nuclear War cleverly disguised as a monster movie. That starts at 8pm and it's the MUST SEE PIC PICK OF THE WEEK.
It's followed up by RODAN, MOTHRA and THE H-MAN all of which are well worth watching. Stay in Friday night, pop some popcorn and watch some good monster movies.
Saturday wraps up the week with DICK TRACY (1937) at Noon showing three episodes from his serial followed by ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT (1942) which is a solid Bogie programmer set in WWII New York City with Bogie and a cast of Warners regulars (including a kind of thin Jackie Gleason) up against Nazi spies at 115pm-- it would have been the Must See this week.
The Essentials is THE WAY WE WERE (1973) which makes me question whether host Robert Osbourne has lost his marbles. I wouldn't watch it for all the chocolate Poptarts in the world.
