Continuing my look at great Batman artists
Tony Millionaire, creator of Drunky Crow, did a take on Batman with legendary designer Chip Kidd that really captured the feel of the early Bat Man character. Millionaire's style is ugly and perfect for the period-- and I think it's stunning work.
The linework, the textures and the just plain weirdness of the suit (looking very much like a cross between Bob Kane's original and the Lewis Wilson costume from the serial) bring it all together.
Wish he'd do more.
TOMORROW: Batman gets simplified, but in a good way.
