Dave Mazzucchelli is an artists artist. Like Alex Toth he is able to get the work down to the most minimum of line and still give us mood and atmosphere-- as well as amazing storytelling. There's a reason why this guy wins Eisner's the same way the rest of us get notices from Publishers Clearing House.
His work on Batman Year One is the basis for BATMAN BEGINS and it's one of the single best Batman comics ever done. With writing by Frank Miller.
