TCM THIS WEEK: DICK TRACY (1945)

Monday looks like a spotlight on RKO Studios with a few great movies that are in my collection-- BEHIND THE RISING SUN (1943) is on at 745am which is an exciting propaganda film.  MURDER MY SWEET (1944) is on at 11am and its one of the best film noirs ever, with Dick Powell as Philip Marlowe.  Powell is my second favorite Marlowe (Bogart is first), but its a great film.

DICK TRACY (1945) is on at 1245pm-- featuring Morgan Conway as the comic strip detective, don't be fooled by the comic strip part-- this is a great adaption of Chester Gould's famed crime strip, and its a solid Film Noir even though it ends on a happy note (spoiler).  It's the MUST SEE PIC PICK OF THE WEEK.  In the days before VCRs I used to set my alarm to get up and watch this when they would show this at 2am on Channel 5.

MRS MINIVER (1942) is on at 8pm with Greer Garson-- if you start watching it you won't be able to stop watching it, really riveting story of homelife in Britain during WWII.

Saturday at 9am is ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN (1958) which is a nutsy sci fi film from the 50s that I like.
At Noon is TORCHY BLANE IN CHINATOWN (1938) which is a fast paced little programmer.
At 3pm is CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (1954) which is a remake of sorts of King Kong and its really a great movie, it'd be the must see Pic if Dick Tracy wasn't on.

At 430pm is THE MARK OF ZORRO (1940) which is a nice version of the Zorro story.

TOOTSIE is the Essentials this week at 8pm, it's a good movie, I've seen it, if you've got nothing else to do go for it.
