Sadly, Jack was tossed aside like yesterday's newspaper when Universal needed to make budget cuts and he refused to try new techniques like foam rubber to save money.
It's a lesson for all artists-- you should be constantly learning your trade and keeping up with all the advancements whether you like them or not.
