TCM This Week: THE THIRD MAN

Tonight at 8pm is WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT (1988) which is a really good movie, but the Roger Rabbit character is so annoying about halfway through you start rooting for the bad guy.

DEAD POETS SOCIETY (1989) is on at 10pm-- it's probably great-- might even be SHAWSHANK great, but I've not seen it and I likely won't-- not a huge fan of Robin Williams.

Tuesday you can catch ONE MILLION BC (1940) at 915am which is an interesting look at what cavemen might have been like seen through the eyes of 1940 Hollywood.
At 315pm is a triple feature of TOPPER films-- starting with TOPPER (1937), then TOPPER TAKES A TRIP (1939) and TOPPER RETURNS (1941) which is my favorite of the series.  They are fun and entertaining and you'll enjoy them.

BALL OF FIRE (1941) is on Wednesday at 815am with Babs Stanwyck and a pretty good cast-- it's about a bunch of stuffy College Professors who get some life injected into them via Babs.  It's fast paced and funny.

THE JUNGLE BOOK (1942) is on at 145pm which is a live action version of the kid raised by wolves, or bears or zebras or something.  I haven't seen it but I know its good.

THE THIRD MAN is on at 10pm, this 1949 Orson Welles classic is a must see PIC.   THIEF OF BAGDAD (1940) is on at 2am and thats a great fantasy film.

Friday we welcome March with some really good films-- THE MOON AND SIXPENCE (1942) is the story of Paul Gauguin with George Sanders, its on at 730am.
At 9am is TO BE OR NOT TO BE (1942) which is a great Jack Benny/Carol Lombard comedy followed by 1045am with I MARRIED A WITCH (1942) which is a great Veronica Lake comedy.  HANGMEN ALSO DIE (1943) is a classic Fritz Lang film on at 330pm.

Saturday's Essentials is AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (1956) which I'll pass on, but you should watch it at 8pm because its an essentials and you can't go wrong with them.
