TCM this Week: KANE

NIAGARA is on Tuesday evening at 545, this 1952 Marilyn Monroe film is part Noir part Hitchcock-- beautifully filmed on location at Niagara falls and featuring Joseph Cotten as a possibly deranged husband.

Wednesday night at 8 is DEAD END (1937) with Joel McCrea and Humphrey Bogart in a nice little Warners programmer about life as a tough kid in New York City.

At 8pm Thursday is BOOMERANG (1947) which I've talked about at length here before-- it stars Dana Andrews in a legendary film noir classic which may or may not deserve it's reputation.

At Midnight is Hitchcock's THE WRONG MAN which is possibly my least favorite Hitchcock of all time-- badly cast and slowly paced it lacks any kind of spirit of conviction but even watching one of the master's failures can teach us ordinary mortals a thing or two about telling stories.

Stay up with the cinematography of Gregg Toland with WUTHERING HEIGHTS (1939) at 8pm as this week's ESSENTIALS offering and followed up by THE GRAPES OF WRATH (1940) and CITIZEN KANE (1941) both of which are the Must See Pic Picks this week.
